Staffing Standards
Most hospitals, nursing homes, and other long-term care facilities have minimum staffing requirements. In fact, most hospitals and other long-term medical and long-term care facilities are continually looking to fill certified nursing assistant jobs.
Each state has the power to establish the minimum staffing ratios for certified nurse aides (CNA), registered nurses (RN), and licensed practical nurses (LPN). These staffing standards are set by each state, and apply to all nurses and certified nursing assistants.
Certified Nursing Assistant Salary
The pay scale for a certified nursing assistant is usually calculated on an hourly basis, and once again, your pay rate will vary depending on which state you plan to pursue your career in. Also, a CNA position in a metropolitan area usually gets a higher hourly rate than one in a more rural location.
As a newly-certified nursing assistant, your hourly wage at the start of your career will usually be anywhere from $8.00 to $11.00. Of course, as you gain more experience, your hourly pay rate will increase. For example, after just one year’s experience a certified nursing assistant would see their hourly pay rate fall in the $12.00 to $14.00 range per hour.
Certified Nursing Assistant Jobs
Nursing homes are a large source of certified nursing assistant jobs; they usually pay the same hourly rates as hospitals, and also have great benefits in addition to a certified nursing assistant salary. There are also private-care CNA jobs available with comparable pay, but fewer (if any benefits).
